HISTORY
The club was formed by a series of mergers and name changes. Firstly, Lake United FC renamed themselves AFC Cardiff in 1984. In 1990, they merged with Sully FC to form Inter Cardiff FC. In 1996, the club was renamed Inter CableTel AFC (after their sponsors), but reverted to Inter Cardiff FC in 1999.

Meanwhile, the team of Cardiff College of Education was developing. The team went through a series of name changes, mirroring the name changes of the institution it represented. The team was originally known as Cardiff College of Education FC. They became South Glamorgan Insitute FC in 1979; Cardiff Insitute of Higher Education FC in 1990 and UWIC FC in 1996.

Finally, in 2000, Inter Cardiff FC merged with UWIC FC to form UWIC Inter Cardiff FC. The club now plays in the Welsh Football League First Division and have finished each season in the top four places since being relegated from the League of Wales in 2000/2001 season.

The Inter Cardiff side, which played in the inaugural season of the League were a very successful team and finished Runners-Up to Cwmbran Town in the 1992-1993 season and then to Bangor City the following year. The 1994/1995 and 1995/1996 seasons weren't as triumphant for the twice Runners-Up and they finished mid-table in tenth and ninth position respectively. However their two-year baron spell ended in the 1996/1997 season, when the sponsorship deal with Cabletel saw the renaming of the side and Inter CableTel finished Runners-Up, this time, to Barry Town.

The following season saw the team drop to fourth position before the 1998/1999 season, which was a carbon copy of the 96/97 year, when they again finished in second place behind Barry Town. However, the end of the sponsorship deal meant that the money had dried up at the club, and the renamed Inter Cardiff finished in a lowest ever, fifteenth place in 1999/2000.

The future of the club was in doubt throughout the close season, but the merger with UWIC, meant that the club could continue to play in the Welsh Premier. However, quite expectedly, the club's last season in the Welsh Premier League saw a very young student side struggle to compete with the stronger and more experienced Welsh Premier teams, and they lost 27 of their 34 games. The team's highlight of the season came when Dr. Jon Magee's side managed an incredible 2-1 victory over Champions elect, Barry Town at their Leckwith Stadium home. The club now play their home games at the Cyncoed Campus in Cardiff and UWIC Inter Cardiff comprises several men's teams as well as a women's team.
