Valiant Welsh beaten by Poland
Two goals in five minutes cost Wales a deserved result against a physically strong and technically gifted Poland side in an Under 23 friendly at Richmond Park, Carmarthen.
The young Welsh side featured eight Principality Welsh Premier League players, as well as three from Wrexham against a professional Polish under 23 outfit of players from their Under 21 squad and fringe of the National set-up.

Despite this, the Welsh had the better of the opening exchanges and Wrexham forward Marc Williams looked dangerous throughout. However, a slice of bad luck cost Terry Boyle's fledglings as the visitors took the lead on 31 minutes through striker Przemyslaw Trytko. A Polish cross was deflected off Mike Williams, and the ball landed on a plate for the forward to head past Haverfordwest 'keeper Lee Idzi. Just five minutes later and the visitors doubled the lead as Legia Warsaw's Adrian Mierzejewski's excellent right wing cross was finished with one touch by his club teammate Adrian Paluchowski.
Wales enjoyed the majority of possession in the second-half and centre midfielders Ashley Williams (Airbus) and Aeron Edwards (TNS) impressed despite being considerably shorter and smaller than their opponents. Substitute wingers Owain Warlow (Llanelli) and Drew Fahiya (Port Talbot) got themselves into the game and looked dangerous as the game went on, and Warlow was deprived of a debut goal by the woodwork as he hit the near post following good work from Marc Williams.
Fahiya then supplied Williams who turned well inside the box only for the Polish 'keeper Adam Stachowiak to deny him. The Wrexham striker had another great chance moments later but his free header went over the bar from a corner.
The Welsh were given hope on 84 minutes when referee Dean John awarded a penalty as Craig Moses was fouled for a penalty. Marc Williams' spot-kick was well saved by Stachowiak, but Moses was first to the rebound and he fired home for 2-1, which was how the game finished.
