Striker Owen set for Lilywhites
STRIKER Carl Owen has quit Porthmadog and is due to sign for Rhyl, according to chairman of the Traeth club Phil Jones.
The story, has been published by Dave Jones of Lilywhites Online. Owen, 28, has spent the past five seasons at Port, making 120 league appearances and scoring 47 goals.
Before that he had spells at Bangor City and Glantraeth and was a Welsh Semi-Pro International in 2005 under Andy Beattie's Management. If Owen joins Rhyl he will be reunited with senior coach Allan Bickerstaff, who was assistant to Viv Williams at Porthmadog last season.
Port chairman Jones said Owen had expressed his intention to leave the Traeth and sign for the Lilywhites. The Lilies are also believed to be running the rule over Airbus UK wing back Ryan Edwards.
Owen would become the third striker to arrive at the club since the Window re-opened with ex-Wrexham duo Neil Roberts and Jamie Reed already on-board. The other striker at the club is another former Port-forward, Marc Lloyd Williams.
