Llanelli name Champions League Squad of 22

Llanelli have named a squad of 22 for their UEFA Champions League campaign, which kicks-off at Stebonheath in eight days time.

The only two additions to the Reds strong squad over the summer has been ex-Wales International Jason Bowen, who has been given the Number 7 shirt and former Neath Athletic 'keeper Craig Morris, who will wear 18. Meanwhile, Llanelli Academy Director Bob Jeffrey will be delighted to see that there are four of last years' Academy players named in the squad, with local lad Antonio Facciuto (defender), striker Jordan Follows, midfielder Declan John and defender Kieran Hayes all being named.

Alongside Bowen, the Reds boast three Wales Internationals with Matthew Jones and Andy Legg also in the squad. It's an amazing turnaround for Jones who has endured the lows of being forced to retire from the professional game, and the highs of being at Leeds when they reached the Semi Final of the competition in 2001, before losing to Valencia. After the injury heartbreak, the Llanelli-born midfielder will just be happy to have another chance to compete in Europe.

Matthew Jones was at Leeds when they reached the Champions League Semi-Final

Legg, who will turn 42 just days after the 2nd Leg in Latvia, must be one of the oldest players in the competition, but it will be a first Champions League outing, for the hugely experienced versatile player.

The total number of players allowed to be regisitered in Europe is 25, but that must include four Club Trained players and Four Association Trained players. Llanelli only have one club trained player (three years at the club, between the age of 15 and 21), so they lose three players from their squad.

The Squad is as follows;

Goalkeepers:
1. Duncan Roberts, 18. Craig Morris

Defenders:
3. Gary Lloyd, 5. Stuart Jones, 6. Wyn Thomas, 16. Kieran Hayes, 19. Nicky Holland, 21. Andy Legg, 23. Stephen Evans, 24. Antonio Facciuto,

Midfielders:
2. Matthew Jones, 4. Andy Mumford, 7. Jason Bowen, 8. Antonio Corbisiero, 10. Chris Holloway, 14. Craig Jones, 17. Declan John,

Strikers:
9. Rhys Griffiths, 11. Craig Williams, 12. Mark Pritchard, 15. Mark Jones, 20. Jordan Follows
