Defender Boardman signs for Welshpool
Talented defender John Boardman is the first new signing to put pen to paper for the 2008/09 season for Welshpool Town.
Boardman joins after spells with Llangefni and Colwyn Bay and will be a valuable addition to the defence, following the departure of Paul Dowridge to Gap Connah's Quay.
Despite interest from several other Principality Welsh Premier sides, Boardman signed on the dotted line over the weekend and Manager Tommi Morgan will be revealing several other signings this week. Boardman joined the Lilywhites in January 2006 on dual-registration with Colwyn Bay, but failed to make an appearance in his first stint at Maesydre.
There is further good news for the club as defender John Keegan plans to be back in training next week, having recovered from the knee injury, which kept him on the sidelines at the end of last season. Keegan was hoping to get the all clear from a specialist on Friday.
It will also be pleasing for Lilywhites fans to hear that Wales Under 23 Semi Pro International, Ross Stephens as well as ex-TNS man Richard Harris and a fully fit Calvin Davies are amongst last season's squad to have already put pen to paper for the 2008/09 season.
