The current holders of the Loosemores League Cup are Caersws, who won the 2006/2007 final on penalties against Rhyl at Aberystwyth. The game was goalless at Full Time but the Bluebirds' Graham Evans scored seven minutes into the first period of extra time. In the second period though, Rhyl's Dave Cameron equalised and the match went to penalties. After Rhyl missed three spot-kicks, Caersws' Colin Reynolds stepped up to strike the winner.
The 2006/2007 season saw the introduction of a new format for the competition, where regionalised midweek group matches, split into North East, North Wales Coast, Mid and South Wales were contested, with the two group winners progressing to the Quarter-Final knock-out stages. There is also an increased prize fund for the Competition of £15,000 with the Winners netting £10,000 the Runner's Up £3,000 and the two losing Semi Finalists bagging £1,000 each.
